Making a vision board may seem cheesy, but when you look back at it and are taken aback by how a lot of the things you put on that vision board came to life, well, it’s not so cheesy anymore. It’s very important to set your intentions for the new year because this way you are planning for the good life. So this is my way of doing that – Plan for the good life.

Last week, I was listening to my mentor Rachel Hollis talking about looking back at your year and what you want to do the most of and what you don’t want to do again in the new year. When I think of what I don’t want to do again: I spent my money on things I shouldn’t have. Was too impatient in situations that ended up costing me more money. Didn’t travel for pleasure. Moved apartments too many times (I moved 3 times last year), and last time was the charm. Settled in a toxic relationship with a guy who wasn’t worthy of my time. My identity was stolen. All of those things I do not want to repeat. No thank you, next.

Five Things I Want To See More of This Year

Travel

Nashville in February. Corpus Christi in March. San Francisco in April. (Edit: which I booked!) Puerto Rico in June. I booked Nashville and driving down to Corpus to see Roman in March because I’ve never been and I need to visit him and his dogs. I’ve also never been to San Fran and my other bestie lives there. I haven’t seen my real dad in two decades so it’s about time I finally make my way back to my homeland, Puerto Rico. Traveling for pleasure is what I need to do for my own sanity.

Save

I’m not sure what’s taken me so long to get to this point, but I want to stop living paycheck to paycheck. In a week, my commission check comes in and it will allow me to put a big chunk of money in my savings and I will not touch it. Also, tax season is coming and that will go in the piggy bank too.

Write

I will write more this year than ever. Whether it be on my blog and/or write my first novel. Writing makes me happy and I want more of it in my life. My focus is to just write and not focus on any outcome of my writing. So when I write my book, my goal is not to get published. Crazy to say, but my first goal is to finish the book. Once I finish it, my next goal will be to get published. Once I accomplish that, my next goal would be to become a New York Times Bestseller. Baby steps. Rome wasn’t built in a day y’all.

Fitness

I also haven’t made fitness a routine (Edit: My Fitness Routine), or a part of my life and that needs to change. I want to run 6 times a week and rest one day (most likely on Sunday). Running for me is not only a stress reliever, but I feel centered when I go on my runs. I also want to do yoga and rejoin a gym just for the classes. Side note: I want to get massages because I have never gotten one like at a spa and that definitely needs to change.

Girl Time

I love spending time with my girls and I need to plan to make more girl time dates this year. Last year, I made enchiladas for my friend and we had some wine and watched a movie. It was a lot of fun and those times made me happy and de-stress.

Bonus: I want to see more animals this year (besides my dog). I can’t remember the last time I went to a zoo or an excursion where I see animals in their habitat. Watching Desi Perkins’ trip to South Africa made me so happy that I felt like that’s something I want in my life. Riding a horse, swimming with dolphins, holding an owl on my arm…. my life would be complete.

Now that I finally made my vision board, I feel like I’m well on my way to having more direction to where I want my 2019 to be. Because planning is key and if you don’t plan, then you can’t be mad at yourself.
